Manners – RSVP Etiquette

RSVP stands for “please respond” and is used at birthdayparties， weddings， and other events to show who will go and who will not。 Hereare some things about RSVP etiquette you should know。

Examples：

1。     It is important to reply to RSVPs as soon aspossible because they help the hosts to prepare for the event and avoidconfusion。

2。     Once you respond to an RSVP saying yes， you willgo， you are expected to go； not doing so would be rude。 However there areexceptions， such as you get sick， there is a family issue， or other seriousproblems。

3。     Before you start deciding who to bring with you，make sure you have been asked to bring guests and check if there is a limit。

4。     Most invitations have a timeframe in which youcan respond because food， drinks， and other items may need to be ordered aheadof time。 If you are unsure about whether or not you can attend before thetimeframe ends， you should contact the host and explain your circumstances。

5。     If you receive and invitation without an RSVP request，you should still tell the host whether or not you will be attending。
